hummingbird studio is an inclusive, community artspace where art belongs to everyone! Kokua’s hummingbird studio was created with the belief that art is essential to a full & meaningful life and critical to a healthy, vibrant community. Our accessible studio is open to artists of all abilities, and participants share common goals: creating art and making friends.
Artists work independently or with as minimal support as necessary to express their personal creative vision. Artists who need assistance with mobility or personal care are required to bring a support person. Art materials are provided. Each session has a general suggested theme, and artists are encouraged to bring their own, unique ideas to life.
hummingbird studio is open on Wednesdays with scheduled open studio times throughout the day. We welcome and encourage donations to help cover our rent and supplies (suggested donation is $5). hummingbird studio is held at Arbutus Folk School in the heart of downtown Olympia at 610 4th Ave. E (directly across from City Hall). Entrance to the studio is located in the alley between Cherry & Chestnut Streets.
